Here’s a quick tip for remembering when to spell out measurements like inches, feet and yards.

These units all measure dimensions. So make them “one” dimensional and use numerals.

• The plant had grown 3 inches overnight!
• The cabinet was 4 feet wide.
• We learned in grade school that 3 feet equals 1 yard.
