Summer is here, and so is the next Detours Drum and Bass event at Eyedrum on Saturday, June 29, featuring Rotterdam-based DJ and producer Chris Inperspective as the first stop on his U.S. tour – and his return to Atlanta after nearly 20 years.
Chris is the founder and head of Inperspective Records, the well-respected label created in 1997 responsible for the best of the weird and wonderful side of jungle and drum and bass.
Known for the challenging style of experimental drum and bass and jungle, Chris came to prominence as an outspoken and diverse DJ who is not afraid to take chances in his sets. His mission is to push the boundaries of what the sound can be, whether through his own productions or through the artists and labels he supports and represents.
A favorite of Physical Science Productions’ Divine Ruler, it only makes sense that Divine is set to open for Chris. Divine has been a longtime supporter of the Atlanta jungle scene, and his crew was responsible for bringing notable jungle DJs to the Southeast for the first time – including bringing Chris to Raleigh, and helping with the Atlanta event back in 2005.
Kicking things off in fantastic fashion will be TruLyfe, who’s been in the mix for more than 20 years, and represents Torch, 404 Audio and the Atlanta DJ Collective.
“I’m really excited about this season’s edition,” says Chanté LaGon, Slo*Mo content director and long-standing supporter of the city’s electronic and soul music scenes. “Giving people a sense of the different facets of drum and bass and its origins is so important, and that’s exactly what makes having Chris Inperspective here so special.”
Detours Drum and Bass is a quarterly series that brings together distinctive DJs from locations as diverse as the line-up.
